During this tour, first we visit the monastery of Agia Triada which is situated on the peninsula Akrotiri outside of Chania and which is famous for the excellent architecture, beautifully preserved until today. It brings us a little bit closer to the Orthodox tradition and religion with its monastic life and its Byzantine icons. And that’s not all! A small folklore museum gives us an introduction to its traditional organic products, which we can also taste, such as olive oil and wine.
As we continue towards Chania we stop for a panoramic view of the town at the Venizelos’ Park, which is utterly related to the Cretan War of Independence.
We have enough time to explore together the different neighbourhoods of the old town of Chania, each one with its own character. The dominating architecture is from the Venetian period, with its magnificent palazzi, the Catholic churches and the attractive harbour. We also see other Orthodox, Muslim and Jewish buildings, all of which have contributed into the creation of the colourful history of this place. We complete the introduction into the past by visiting the most important Minoan excavation of the ancient Kydonia. Come with us and let us show you what there is behind the façade, all the important details you would like to know about this town.
We are looking forward to seeing you!
