This tour will bring us to three different places outside of Chania.

First of all we will visit one of the most important ongoing excavations in western Crete at a magnificent area overlooking the White mountains and the Souda Bay,the ancient city of Aptera.

At an easy pace we will discover together all the buildings dated to many different periods. The ancient theater, the amazing Roman baths and aqueducts, the Byzantine monastery and the Ottoman fortress. We will show the importance of this city and its location throughout the centuries.

After having a break in the typical Cretan cafe of the nearby village we will continue to the peninsula of Akrotiri to visit the monastery of Agia Triada, with its grand architecture dated back to the Venetian period and known for the production of its traditional organic olive oil and wine, which we can also taste.

Our last stop is the beautiful park of Venizelos which offers a splendid view of the town of Chania and has a great historical importance related to the Cretan Independence.

In our 6 hour-tour you will have the chance to admire monuments passed on to us by the ancient Cretans/Greeks as well as Romans, Byzantines, Venetians and the Ottomans, forming a clear picture of the history of Chania and of Crete in general.
